When I was in high school, there were bands I loved to hate. And those long-ago (sheesh - over 25 years) decisions kinda stick with me.
The 'evil trifecta' was Loverboy, Journey, and Foreigner. Nowadays, I don't revile them sooo much... they fall into 'general nostalgia' rather than 'acute reminder that I wasn't one of the cool kids.'
Cuz I'm almost at the level of the Foreigner song, to wit:
Well I'm hot blooded, check it and see
I got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot blooded, I'm hot blooded
I've only got a fever of 102.
Ewwww.
Oh - yeah - I forgot. I was going to add another link to Norwegianity. These guys/gals rock.

Rock? Dead?? What about the Ramones?
Naw - I know (historically) what you mean - that the main thrust of rock petered out about that time. My two favorite bands from that time - Devo and Adam Ant - would have been new wave and brit-pop, neither rock. (And only one of those two has stood the test of time.)
